This part is the easiest way to replace the gear. Remove the chain, remove the
three screws from the top plate, remove and replace the entire assembly.
The typical cause for worm gear failure is: lack of lubrication, a garage door
that's out of balance, or the door slams to the floor in the "down" cycle.
Maintenance: Lubricate the drive and worm gear periodically, adjust the
"down" limit switch to meet the floor without slamming, keep garage door springs
adjusted for proper balance or replace springs if necessary. Lubricate all garage door
hardware, rollers, sheaves and track radius.
